"What can we say The House in The Sun, for us it was pure paradise.The views are amazing and left myself and Julie breathless with their stunning colours and beauty.Watching the sunrise and sunset the colours changing on the Olive Groves and hills.What could be more wonderful than sitting by the pool watching swallows swoop down to drink.The owners cats with their individual personalities are adorable and wander around with grace.The property is immaculately clean, lovely comfy bed and gorgeous fresh linen.The owners Kathie and Chris are fantastic and a wonderful couple and are there to offer advice and assistance if you need it.Overall this truly is a remarkable property and area that will steal your heart and you will leave a little bit of it when you depart."

Beautiful week in Crete

"My husband and I had the best week in Crete, Chris and Kathy were the prefect hosts and very welcoming (and their cats were also very welcoming and friendly and gave the place a very homely feel). The apartment was amazing and the pool area was so private and relaxing. Great location for exploring the coast and the mountains, can't wait to come back! Thank you x"

Property is lovely, garden and pool gorgeous and views are just stunning. A lovely House in the Sun with great hosts, facilities and environment.

"Our 3rd visit to Crete. This is a lovely, air-conditioned apartment, set in a quiet traditional village in a beautiful part of Crete. The views from the patio are stunning. The facilities provided within the apartment, and outside, were all we needed for our 9 night stay. The bed is very comfortable and the pool is everything it looks, maintained at a constant 30 Deg C. Within 30 minutes travel is the lovely seaside resort of Kalyves. There are many golden, sandy, beaches within easy reach. Chania airport and city are about 30 minutes drive as is a Lidl store. There are local shops and chemists within a few minutes drive. I advise hiring a car, in order to get the best from your stay. The hosts, Kathie and Chris are lovely people! They are extremely helpful, friendly and kind. The advice that they gave us on the local area was really helpful. Thank you both, so much, for everything! We thoroughly recommend thiis for a holiday to remember! Roly & Mandy Love."

More than expected

"After reading the reviews and so many positive reviews we decided to book this place. Well all i can say is we were not disappointed very clean with all you need. Wonderful well kept gardens and a beautiful pool plenty of areas to enjoy the sun but also a lovely shaded area under the wisteria to escape from the heat but for me the best was the Wonderful views of the olive groves flanked my the white mountains stunning with only the sounds of a Greek summer and the occasional Greek music playing in the distance which only enhanced the experience. If you enjoy the quieter life this is a place i would highly recommend"

"Un logement en tout point exemplaire, une vue magnifique et des hôtes très prévenants sans être omniprésents (bien que sur place). Katie et Chris ont repondu a nos demandes soit directement soit par messagerie en quelques minutes à chaque fois. Le seul petit bémol ne vient pas de l'habitation mais de l'île elle-même (et comme beaucoup d'îles que nous avons faîtes), ce sont les distances a parcourir avec une vitesse limitée et des petites routes (mis a part la route nommée "90", la seule nationale de l'île). Pour la location par contre rien a dire c'est le top!"

"Nette Leute, starke Bude, Spitzenaussicht! Tollen Pool und Schmusekätzchen gab es auch dazu. Unser Sohn fragte schon bei der Abfahrt, wann wir wieder kommen..."

Peace & tranquility

"This place isn't for everyone, which doesn't mean I'm putting this place down, quite the opposite. If you love animals, especially cats, then come here (if you don't like cats then don't visit Greece!). If you love to be off the beaten track, but still close enough to not be totally cut off, then come here. If you want the option of being left to your own devices and I mean totally, no room service, no towel changes while you nap etc come here. We enjoyed the solitude, no noises bars, the long walks through rural villages, the peace and quiet (apart from the dogs, birds, goats etc) the lovely local villages with great Tavernas and warm welcomes. Yes this suited us perfectly and we are looking at returning soon, and WE NEVER do that to any place that we've visited before !"

"Super schönes Haus mit tollem Pool. Kathy und Chris sind liebevolle und aufmerksame Gastgeber. Man sollte Katzen lieben, so wie eigentlich überall in Griechenland. Besonders aber dort. Wir haben neben Kathy und Chris auch alle anderen Bewohner wie Alfi, Dave, Arthur, Chlotilde und besonders Minnie ins Herz geschlossen. Gerne kommen wir wieder."

Entspannung pur

"Wir (Ehepaar Mitte 50) haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die Ruhe im House of the sun tat uns sehr gut. Die Unterkunft (Wohnung und rund ums Haus sowie der Pool waren einzigartig. Kathie uns Chris waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Der Hauskater Alfi hat uns viele Schmunzelmomente beschert."

Ein wunderschöner Urlaub auf Kreta

"Tolle Ferienwohnung mit allem eingerichtet was man im Urlaub braucht. Wunderschöne Anlage mit Pool. Sehr schöne Aussicht über das Tal. Tavernen und Supermarkt in 5 Min mit dem Auto oder in 25 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit halten sich aber sehr im Hintergrund. Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen. Wir werden wiederkommen"

"Nous avons passé, avec mes deux enfants, un très bon séjour. Idéalement placé entre La Cannée et Rethymnon, nous avons pu visiter la région et profiter d'une très belle piscine. Kathie et Crhis ont été « aux petits soins » pour nous. Location fonctionnelle et très propre qui disposent de tout le nécessaire pour passer de bonnes vacances. Je recommande fortement."

What a find!

"We have just returned home after spending a fantastic, relaxing, 2 weeks with Kathie and Chris at The House in the sun. It really couldn't have been any better. Communication before our trip was spot on with extremely easy directions with pictures sent that made finding the apartment very easy. We arrived in the early hours and were welcomed by Alfie the cat who kept us company for our holiday. Fantastically well equipped, spotless apartment. Fantastic sitting area with amazing views and the pool!… we spent a lot more time at the pool then we have done on any other holiday as we found it so relaxing. There is a great little village about 5 mins away with a well stocked shop, a great coffee place that do delicious cakes, a gyros shop and a lovely taverna serving amazing food. Lots of beach choices can be found without having to venture too far from base. Kathie and Chris are the perfect hosts with loads of advice available & laughs. We were even treated to a some quiet background music one day while they rehearsed for a gig they had locally that week. Would absolutely not hesitate to recommend the house in the sun to everyone and have already given all the details to a lot of our friends and family. "For our trip in Crete we were looking for an easily accessible and central location in the countryside. What is great about the House in the sun is that even if you live among olive, orange and lemon trees, sheeps and goats and enjoy long walks from village to village in a rural environment, you are relatively close to everything by car. The appartement has met our expectations. It was perfect for 2 and had everything you need. Because we travelled early May, we did not use the pool, but we have enjoyed spending time on the private terrace which offers a gorgeous view of the surroundings. Our hosts were also great to interact with and very helpful. And the cats,…we fell in love with them. We highly recommand this place."

"Als je op zoek bent, naar een verblijf voor twee om tot rust te komen, ben je hier aan het juiste adres. Het uitzicht is prachtiger dan op de foto. De architectuur van het zwembad betoverend. Het water van het zwembad zeer verkwikkend op warme dagen zonder chloor, wat wij ten zeerste waarderen voor de gezondheid van je huid. Het appartement was zeer proper en functioneel. Chris en Kathie zijn zeer gastvrij. Ze geven je informatie voor leuke uitstapjes en tips van goede restaurants . We kregen ook een welkomstpakket voeding. We genoten enorm en we komen zeker en vast nog eens terug. B"

"Wir hatten eine traumhafte Zeit in dieser wunderschönen Ferienwohnung! Man hat einen einzigartigen Blick, der an die Toskana erinnert. Die Unterkunft bietet alles was man braucht und auch in dem Bett haben wir gut geschlafen. Kathie und Chris sind wunderbar! Freundliche Vermieter und sehr schöne Lage

"Die Lage ist traumhaft und ruhig. Ein sehr kleines Dörfchen. Alles was man braucht ist in der Nähe, Mini-Supermarkt, Taverne, Apotheke und Tankstelle. Zu Fuß 30 Minuten (schöner Abendspaziergang), mit dem Auto 5 Minuten zu erreichen. Auf dem Weg kann man Dorfleben beobachten und schöne Orangen-, Zitronen- und Olivenbäume betrachten. Kathie und Chris sind sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Leider funktionierte in unserer Aufenthaltsdauer die Klimaanlage nicht. Ansonsten haben wir unsere Zeit bei Kathie und Chris sehr genossen. Vielen lieben Dank nochmal."

"Wer dem üblichen Toristentrubel entfliehen will, ist hier genau richtig: ein schönes Appartement in einem unscheinbaren Bergdorf, überaus nette Gastgeber, eine gut - aber nicht luxuriös - ausgestattete Einrichtung, ein attraktiver Pool und die Möglichkeit, schnell an die Strände der Nord- und Südküste zu kommen. Einen Mietwagen sollte man aber in jedem Fall haben."

Erholsamer Urlaub in einer wunderschönen Ferienwohnung

"Die Unterkunft ist ein absoluter Traum. Die Küche ist voll ausgestattet, alles ist sehr sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet. Das Doppelbett ist ein bisschen klein, jedoch haben wir auf Nachfrage ein Zustellbett bekommen. Die Vermieter sind sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich, ziehen sich zurück, wenn man ungestört sein möchte, sind aber auch offen für alle Anliegen, die man hat. Die Wohnung ist fern ab vom Tourismus, man fährt ca. 20 Minuten zum nächsten Strand oder in eine kleine Stadt, für uns genau das richtige. Dank privatem Pool waren auch die Temperaturen auszuhalten. Fazit: wunderbar!"

Wonderful apartment in a quiet location with a sublime view

"We (young family of 3 with a 7 month old baby) had a fabulous 2 week holiday at the beginning of June this year. Kathy and Chris are the perfect hosts, very attentive and keen to make sure you have a great stay. Both the apartment and magnificent terrace with its views were at least as nice as we had expected from the fotographs. The pool, which you share only with the hosts occasionally and which is cleaned daily by Chris, is sublime. Although you need a rental car to get to beaches, shops and restaurants easily, it is nice to get away from the crowds and chill with a fantastic view on the terrace in the evenings. Overall we highly recommend a stay at this place and hope to return ourselves in the future!"

"Idyllique! Katie et Chris aux petits soins mais tout en discrétion, appartement propre, bien fourni, spacieux et très agréable. Ne parlons pas de la terrasse privative avec vue dégagée sur les montagnes, et de la magnifique piscine "partagée" avec les propriétaires, que nous avons utilisé seuls et à volonté. La situation géographique est excellente entre La Canée et Rethymno. Voiture nécessaire"

I remembered at our arrival how Kathy said 'we will be as present or absent as you guys wish' ... and this rolled out perfectly, we enjoyed our privacy as much as we enjoyed the help and some talks with our host ... although little help was needed, everything was A-ok. The pool area and the privacy and comfort of our apartment were perfect. We used the place as an ideal homebase to discover the West of Crete ... but also for couples, families with small children that look for quietness in a peaceful and relaxing environment around the pool ... this is the perfect place. Tranquillity

"Warm and friendly greeting on arrival whilst adhering to hygiene measures in place ( most comforting ). Chris showed us round the property and left us to unpack at our leisure. We then sat and ate a light meal rustled up from groceries provided by prior arrangement with Kathie and Chris, which was very much appreciated as we had a very long day. The following morning we took in our vista from the terrace and were just in awe of the lovely property and the views. Our hosts were very welcoming, knowledgable and attentive whilst not being obtrusive. We felt very much at ease at the house in the sun, so much so that on a few days we felt no need to stray from the property as it had everything we needed to be able to sit and relax and enjoy the warmth of the Cretan sun and the beautiful surroundings of this idyllic property. We met as guests and hopefully left as friends and we can't wait to return. We would highly recommend this property if you're looking to get away from all the hubbub of city or even town life and just want to chill."

Extra touches, like providing beach towels, very welcome especially as I forgot to bring any. Kathie and Chris are lovely hosts and very generous. The apartment is well placed for the beaches of northern Crete and for Chania and Rethimno, and enjoys a very tranquil position with beautiful views. "There are many reasons to choose this place for a stay on Crete! *The hospitality of Chris and Cathy. We had really nice talks, they took good care. Perfect! *The apartment is also perfect. Everything you need is there. It's clean and practical, but also tastefully furnished and decorated. *We enjoyed the magnificent view: the olive tree covered hills nearby and overlook of beautiful colouring mountains at sunset, all the way to the Ida in the distance. *The apartment is situated just outside a little village, but within 20 minutes you are at the beach of Kalyves. Also Chania, Rethymnon is nearby and a lot of other places (Aptera!) of interest…..You can also make beautiful walks from here…. Chris and Cathy: thanks a lot! "Kathie et Chris sont des hôtes vraiment charmants et très chaleureux, à l'écoute de nos besoins. Leurs indications pour accéder à l'appartement sont précises et claires.Le tarif est très concurrentiel. L'appartement, située au rez de chaussée de leur maison bénéficie d'une vue à couper le souffle ( au loin le mont Psiloritis, sommet de la Crète). L'appartement est très joliment décoré et bien équipé avec une grande terrasse et une pergola équipée de mobilier de jardin. Il n'y fait pas trop chaud en été grâce aux murs épais en pierre de taille. Pour rejoindre la plage de Kalyves il faut seulement 15 minutes en voiture.Nous avons fait de belles randonnées (outre les gorges de Samaria bien sûr): Chris nous a même emmenés au départ des gorges de Diktamos. Et que dire de leurs talents de musiciens!! Nous recommandons fortement cette location (L'an prochain avec piscine!), vous ne pourrez pas être déçus!"

"We recently had a 2 month stay in this apartment. Kathie and Chris could not have been more friendly or helpful what wonderful hosts. We found the apartment very clean and comfortable, especially the sofa and the bed and the kitchen was a bonus as we like to self cater as well as eat out. The position of the apartment afforded wonderful views of the mountains and the valley and beautiful sunrises. It was very convenient for shops, tavernas and beaches. The local taverna next to the pharmacy in Agio Pantes served excellent fresh food just 5 minute drive. Would recommend the apartment for a short or long stay holiday."
